This week’s comic clip is from a trade paperback called “Kick-Ass” from 2008. The book tells a story of an average teenager Dave Lizewski, a comic-book fanboy who decides to take his obsession as inspiration to become a real-life superhero. As any good superhero would, he chooses a new name — Kick-Ass — assembles a suit and mask to wear, and gets to work fighting crime. There’s only one problem standing in his way: Kick-Ass has absolutely no superpowers.
The comic is six issues long and here is a clipping from the first book. The line is “We all planned to be a superhero at some point in our lives.”
This week it was announced that a movie was being made based off of this comic. A Teaser Trailer was also released (see below). Looks like they are going to be holding closely to the book, as this trailer covers most of the first issue.

I recently got into reading comics, about a year ago, I find the stories more creative (then TV) and for the most part the artwork to be inspiring. I wouldn’t say I read a ton of comics, compared to some, and I have gotten into reading a few on going series.
Each week as I’m reading comics there is usually a page or part of page that really make the whole book. A lot of times it can be inspiring even out of context of the book. I’m hoping to post a clipping each week of the most creative comic art I come across.
Here is this week’s clipping…
Currently I’m reading “Batman & Robin”, “Chew”, “Deadpool”, “The Marvels Project”, “Captain America Reborn”, “Ex Machina” and “Sweet Tooth”. I just finished reading “The Surrogates”, and I’m on the last book of “The Losers”.
Want to see a good example of how far technology in Graphic Design and Special Effects have come in the last 100 years?
Take a look at this YouTube Video I saw recently. The creative’s imagination can take us any where, but lately it’s the technology that makes it so believable.
