Produce Geek

Produce Geek is a project I’m working on with a couple friends. The site shares what fresh produce (fruits, vegetables) is best RIGHT NOW from an Industry Insider. We offer a weekly e-newsletter called “Eat This Now” that highlights the freshest farm produced goods for the current week. Visit the site at http://producegeek.com.

The site is a WordPress blog with many additions. My role in the project is developer, creative director and affiliate marketer. Currently the Newsletter is not using any mass mailer application I send it out using Thunderbird each week. We are using Twitter as a marketing tool to get the word out as well.

D&E standard e-mail

D&E Communications needed to contact their customers for various reasons month-to-month. This is an example of a standard D&E mass e-mail that was sent to all the ISP Customers about an upgrade to their e-mail inbox. Click the image to see the message as a web page.

I’ve used an in house mass e-mailing script to send these e-mails as well as a web application called Listrak.

Walnut Street Baptist

Walnut Street Baptist Church Ministries is a church website I built using two WordPress blogs, one for the church and one for the school. In addition to utilizing WordPress as a CMS I helped integrate services from: PayPal (for online payments), eBay (for displaying the school’s online auctions), and Google Apps (for online calendaring). The site’s content creation and insertion is completed by church and school staff.

Jazzd Interactive

Jazzd Interactive is a user portal for D&E Jazzd Internet Service customers. It is a portal built on top of a Content Management System called Jahia, the latest version was designed to match the corporate brand of D&E Communications. Jazzd Interactive offers easy access to top news stories, shopping, music, photos, and many other channels. The site also provided important links for the ISP customers such as access to login to webmail, their account administration center and online bill payment. Jazzd Interactive averages nearly one million pageviews per month.

D&E Communications corporate website is where I’ve spent the last ten years of my web design career. This site was built on CSS, XHTML, and PHP. Most of my work on this site was maintenance, updates, and content additions.

CSI: D&E

CSI (Corporate Systems Integration): D&E was an employee education project to get all staff at D&E to understand what one of the more technical products the company offered was all about. It was an effect to get the employees more educated so they could all assist in finding leads and to help sell the product.

My role again was idea creation, script writing and all the technical work (videographer, animator, editor). The campaign was held in two parts. After each part/video there was a short simple test that gave away small prizes to everyone who completed the quiz.

D&E Members e-mail

Each month D&E Jazzd ISP customers receive an e-mail just like this one. It’s a nice informational e-mail with relevant news and tips. The message is crafted by an outside source but I got to design the layout (based on a template) and we were able to insert a custom article each month.

Co-Location Video

I created a video that showcases D&E Communications Co-Location Facility. The video is used as a sales tool and presents a compelling story to consider using D&E’s Co-Location center. My role in this video was videographer, photographer and editor.

Jazzd Mass e-mail

To promote new features and additions to the ISP User portal, Jazzd Interactive, we often sent out mass e-mails to the users of the site. This is an example of one those messages, it was the last of the old look as the e-mail talks about a new look being revealed. Click the image to see the message as a web page.

I designed, coded all mass e-mails like this one and most of the time I wrote the copy for the message. I’ve used an in house mass e-mailing script to send these e-mails as well as a web application called Listrak.

Zenoss is a network monitoring web application D&E was running and using internally as well as for customers. It is a very technical and advanced web application that I modified and edited to look and function just like D&E’s corporate site.

D&E TV Video

D&E Communications had at the time a unique Television Service in central PA. It was digital TV over a DSL line, the combination of TV over a telephone line added a few interesting features such as incoming caller ID notification and voicemail notification. This video that I wrote the script for, directed, ran camera, and edited educated the customers of the features of this new TV service.

No Hassle Marketing

No Hassle Marketing and Printers Pay Day were two websites I created and developed. The idea for the company was fairly complicated, the frontends of the sites were basic, and the web service was sophisticated.

The No Hassle Marketing site was for anyone who wanted to create, print and deliver a printed newsletter to your clients. Template newsletters were offered for you to work from. Printers Pay Day was the sister site and was for print shops to become a partner of No Hassle Marketing and do the actual printing of the newsletter for a local client.

Most of my work was spent integrating & customizing the look of the innovative Newsletter creation and ordering application with the frontend site and with an affiliate management application for the partners of Printers Pay Day.

NHM Video

The No Hassle Marketing / Printer’s Pay Day project had mostly video clips for the sites content. The owners of the company requested to have their sales pitches recorded. Here is an example of one of the videos. Technologies incorporated were Green Screens and Flash Video.

Ephrata Nazarene

Ephrata Church of the Nazarene is a church website that I designed and built upon a simple blogging software called Pivot. The Ephrata Nazarene church was created to be easy for the church administration to edit the content. In addition to the blog platform I’ve integrated a few other applications such as: PayPal (for online donations & giving), and a webcast blog for archiving and displaying previous services online.

Mission Critical

For the Mission Critical Campaign we sent out USB Jump Drives to customers along with the USB Drive was a unique username and password for the customer to retrieve their mission from D&E Communications. They were instructed to enter this information into the application stored on the drive. The application was a flash app I created that educated the customer on a Security & Network monitoring product D&E was selling.

My role in this campaign was idea creation and execution. I designed and built the flash application, as well as the functionality to include usernames and passwords. We also used custom printing for each customer so that the direct mail pieces were personalized for them.
